I recently stayed at Occidental Jandia Mar with my husband and our two children (7 years and 22 months), and we had an amazing experience. After reading some negative reviews before our trip, I was a bit anxious, but I can confidently say that everyone’s expectations and experiences are different. For us, this resort was fantastic! We stayed in Room 7119, which had a beautiful sea view and was spotlessly clean. Housekeeping came daily, ensuring the room was always fresh and tidy. We opted for the AI+ package, which I personally think is worth the extra cost. The added perks like bathrobes, slippers, a stocked minibar (alcohol replenished once, but water provided daily), access to a safe, and branded drinks made our stay more comfortable. The best part, though, was the access to La Toscana restaurant. It was so peaceful, and having a sit-down meal together as a family—without the hustle and bustle of a buffet—was a highlight. The food quality was excellent, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We tried the buffet one evening but didn’t find it as relaxing. While the food was tasty, some dishes were a little cold unless you caught them as they were brought out. However, breakfast at the buffet was great every morning, with a good selection of high-quality options. The pool area was another highlight. We had no trouble finding sunbeds in good locations. While the unheated pool was too cold to use, the heated pool was a comfortable temperature once you got moving. The poolside snack bar was brilliant, offering a wide variety of delicious food throughout the day. The water park was fantastic for both kids and adults. Our children loved the slides and splash zones, and we adults had just as much fun on the bigger slides. There was also a snack van with sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and drinks, which was really convenient. Entertainment at the resort was hit or miss, but I believe it’s what you make of it. Our favorite evenings were quiz night and White Night. The magician, unfortunately, didn’t impress us—he performed in silence, lacked connection with the audience, and it felt a bit dull. One improvement I’d suggest is having music continue after the main entertainment ends, at least until the bar closes, to keep the atmosphere lively. My favourite cocktail was Sex on the Beach at the bar near the La Toscana restaurant, made so well. But I also felt the quality of all the drinks were really good. We had a walk down to the beach to feed the chipmunks (near the skeleton of the whale). Lovely beach and a couple of nice restaurants if you wanted a day out one day. Walk back up was a bit tiring so if you do have mobility issues I wouldn’t recommend walking back. Lastly, the staff were excellent—99% of them were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. There were one or two exceptions who could benefit from customer service training, but overall, the team made our stay enjoyable. In summary, Occidental Jandia Mar exceeded our expectati
